Blue Compass formally declines responsibility

Blue Compass said its Service and Parts leadership adopted KZ's conclusion that the damage was related to sealant maintenance. It declined responsibility and offered to reconnect us with Longmont if we wanted to proceed with the $22,054.49 repair at our expense.

Attorney consultation

We reviewed the matter with an attorney. Among the considerations was a prevailing-party attorney-fee clause in the purchase contract, which made litigation a meaningful financial risk. We continued pressing the dealer to stand behind the original repair rather than immediately filing suit.

KZ identifies an expired technical service bulletin

KZ said a limited Technical Service Bulletin had applied to a defined group of units and expired on November 10, 2023. It defended the transition-strip repair and focused on quarterly sealant maintenance and the expired warranty. We replied that this did not address the unit's documented defects and prior repairs. KZ cites expired warranty

KZ said the one-year limited factory warranty had expired, confirmed there were no open recalls, and directed us to the servicing dealer or insurance. It offered no remedy. We have published a privacy-safe correspondence record.

Repair history requested from KZ

We asked KZ for the VIN's complete repair and recall history. KZ described the earlier roof-area work as addressing a "sealant void" and confirmed that it involved an interior ceiling panel, adjacent wall panel, batten, and molding.

Repair estimate reaches $22,054.49, before freight

After two requests for the promised estimate, Blue Compass provided it and warned that freight was not included, so the total would increase. The estimate documented roof and front-window leaks and probable hidden damage.

Blue Compass refuses to participate in repairs

Blue Compass formally said it would not participate in repairing the RV. It offered to help if we proceeded through insurance or paid out of pocket and asked us to schedule pickup from Longmont.

Extensive water intrusion discovered

We found bulging and soft ceiling material and visible damage in the front portion of the RV, including the general area of the earlier work.
